What a wonderful story! Vonda Sinclair knows how to draw you in with her descriptions of the characters and the surroundings and make you feel like you are there! I felt like I could visualize the story as it unfolded and feel the emotions. One of my favorite tropes is the emotionally or physically scarred hero or heroine who in the end finds happiness.
Lady Kristina has suffered tragically by the hand of a Highland Chief, Blackburn, who had mistreated her sister and left Kristina blind from a blow to the head. As her sister escaped him, Blackburn uses Kristina again to lure her sister out to him. Rescued by Colin Cameron, a braw warrior and future chief, Colin is indeed a hero to fall in love with. He is so kind and has deep feelings for being such a strong man. What follows is a whirlwind of suspense and romance. Brutal forces drive Colin and Kristina to extreme lengths to try to stay alive. Kristina is such a strong, amazing and caring person despite her disability.
This book is part of a series that I have not read, but the story can be read as a standalone. Still, I intend to go back and read every one. I'm going to put Vonda Sinclair on my favorite author list! I am looking forward to the next books in the series. I hope some of the secondary characters will appear!!!
